Centurion Law Group Prominent at Africa Oil & Power
Centurion Law Group played a key role in the Africa Oil & Power 2017 conference held in Cape Town last week, with CEO NJ Ayuk speaking on the conference’s Policy and Law panel and Energy Practice Leader Adaku Ufere moderating the Frontier Exploration panel.
The Policy and Law panel addressed issues like how legislation and regulation can move projects from discovery to development or hinder those projects; overhauling oil and gas regulations; and the essential components needed for an effective oil and gas contract.
Ufere’s panel addressed questions like why Africa is still an under-explored region, despite recent massive discoveries throughout the continent, and how independent oil and gas operators can effectively operate in the current oil price environment.
Ayuk also launched his first book, Big Barrels: African Oil and Gas and the Quest for Prosperity, with co-author João Marques.
Africa’s elite energy event, Africa Oil & Power attracted 400 delegates and 70 speakers from June 5-7 in Cape Town. The 12 panel sessions, which included topics on upstream, power, policy and finance, addressed the “lower for longer” oil price environment and also examined the “catalysts for change” that will ignite a recovery in the African oil and gas market.
